Shootingthebull410 has posted an initial review of the much hyped G2 R.I.P. round in 9mm. First things first, getting shot at by any round is not good. Whats going on here is it's a 96 gr 9mm going at over 1200 fps. From there it's supposed to hit soft tissue and create 9 wound channels. A very lightweight 9mm is not new. In the 80's there was the 9mm B.A.T. round by Geco. What you had with the B.A.T. was an 86 gr hollow point 9mm going at 1400 FPS. It was a HP round that had a cap on the tip of the bullet, that would aid in feeding the round into chamber and fall off after leaving the barrel. The only thing now is will the RIP round stand the test of time? Or will it be one of those "Do you remember"..... rounds.
As reported by Soldier Systems, Thyrm and the Chris Costa have come up with The Switchback. A tactical flashlight ring. I think a ring on a flashlight is not a bad idea. The idea is not new. I myself tried using an flashbang ring on my surefire, but it was not reliable. Surefire has come up with thier own flashlight combat rings a couple of years ago but I have not seen anyone use them.
Thyrm and Costa seems to have come up with something that may work. Check out the switchback video and let me know what you think.
I have heard people say the the shotgun is dead. But with the release of Kel Tec's KSG a couple years ago and Crye Precisions new bullpup revolver shotgun being announced at the 2014 SHOT Show, I think the shotgun is not going anywhere for a while. Hopefully, as with anything new from SHOT, this does not take forever to come out.
Bullpup Revolver Shotgun Design
A Bull Pup shotgun design is not new. The High Stanard Model 10and H&K's CAWS are two early examples. Whats new here is the revolver type cylinder and its in a bull pup form. I've already seen people concerned that if theres a KABOOM, it would be close to your face. Although thats a legitimate concern. I think if you use factory ammo you should be okay. Soldier System Daily is reporting that the SIX12 is designed for breachers so this sounds like a specialty shotgun. But lets admit it, it looks way cool.
If your like me and are not going to the 2014 SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor, Trade)
Show in LasVegas. Fear not, other people are and we can see what they see through social media. Shot Show Officially starts today, January 14th and will run to Friday the 17th. The following are several people who I think do a great job covering this event.
RECOIL MAGAZINE
For me, following Recoil Magazine's Instagram account is like being at SHOT. I follow their feeds and they posted plenty of pics of them at the range shooting the latest and greatest for Media Day.
Another great way to see whats going on is to go to their web coverage of SHOT. They already have media day pics from yesterday up. Follow this link for great pictures.

Austin Weissis a custom car and motorcycle builder who is also into firearms. He's not constantly posting for shot, but when he does post, It's some very cool stuff.
TACTICAL SMG LEE is the guy for the best pictures of SHOT. SMG LEE is an avid shooter and trainer in Southen California. I do not now him personally but when I shot IDPA matches I would run into him and he's a friendly guy. No attitude. The place to see these pics is here on M4carbine.net. Pictures usually start posting after SHOT. Looks like he's not posting anything in realtime.
Theres plenty of other people covering SHOT but these are the main 3 that I follow. If you know of some other great coverage, let me know. You can never get enough SHOT show pics!
